Volunteer

Do you believe in the capacity of black women and girls to change their lives and the community around them? If you are passionate about supporting a worthy cause that uplifts, inspires, and empowers black women, we invite you to join us.

With your support, we can change the economic status of black Canadian women and girls, help more families to thrive, and have a much more significant impact on the broader Canadian society.

Whether you want to volunteer to build your community service experience and leadership skills or give back your time to a worthy cause, we welcome you to join our family.

We invite allies, young or old, and other black women to serve as mentors, advisors, administrators, and support for the cause.

In turn, you will gain a sense of fulfillment from seeing the lives you impact, and you will develop meaningful friendships and connections with others in your community through the generous donation of your time.

The Sesheme Foundation has an ambitious plan to elevate the outcomes for black women and their families. This group has experienced significant marginalization in Canadian society, and we know that these women will soar with the proper support and an incubator-style approach to development.

We call upon the generosity of donors to support our cause. With a responsible board of directors and a solid team of professionals supporting the mission, we are committed to ensuring that every dollar received adds value to the community and is allocated in a fiscally responsible and fair manner.

With the GTA facing a diverse range of issues surrounding anti-black racism and discrimination toward visible minorities, there is a clear need for more agile community services and support. The Sesheme Foundations' goal is to:

  • Provide an actual and virtual hub of support services for the communities we serve

  • Provide one-stop, accessible, and inclusive support services for women, girls, and seniors in need and those facing barriers in our communities. We need to mobilize quickly in each community to empower and support client-led interventions.

  • Eliminate violence and cultural/ethnic divisions within low-income communities

  • Strengthening our communities through community and volunteer engagement

Thank you for donating to Sesheme Foundation. Your generous gift will go a long way to improving economic and social outcomes for Black women, girls, and seniors. Donations are processed through our partnership with the Working Women Community Centre.
